Size Matters.

Isn't this just the pot-bellied calling the kettle fat?

The Obama Administration is doing it's best to erase any doubt.  Whether it's buying off pretend-prolife-democrat Ben Nelson from Nebraska and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana with the subsidy of everyone else to get his Obamacare debacle passed; or selling a plum federal judgeship for a Congressman's brother . . . with the appropriate health care proviso of course, Washington has been brothelized by a never ending series of back room deals, deceptions, and pay-to-play conditions.  But what's a few hundred million dollars among friends?  We can't help but be reminded that the only difference between call girls and prostitutes is price.

We have also witnessed government spending at drunken sailor levels, with the caveat that drunken sailors spend their own money.  There seems to be nothing to ameliorate Washington's insatiable appetite for power, growth, control, and fiscal malfeasance.  And when one Senator Jim Bunning essentially expresses a "gee, why might not could afford this" sentiment and he's vilified.

We have inept, intrusive agencies that know no limit to their reach; the Administration's top lawyer who doesn't know what the U.S. Constitution says (it's grown to be a pesky little document anyway); a Director of Homeland Security who views people opposed to human abortion as the biggest threats to national security; and a Senate Majority Leader who threatens wives everywhere if they don't vote for his "modest" $15 billion proposal.  All led by a smoking, closet Muslim who wants to kill his own grandchildren.  What could possibly go wrong!

Now Ezekiel Emanuel, who is the Obama Administration's bioethics adviser, and older brother to Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel opines that fat people waste our energy resources:  "I mean, we’re all focused on health care, diabetes and heart disease, ”Emanuel said on Feb. 25. “But, there’s all sorts of things like the simple that, you know – heavier people – transportation is more, so there’s more spent on gasoline, more on jet fuel."

The elder Emanuel went on to complain that
it’s not just energy costs, but also infrastructure.  “People have had to change, ah you know, the size of doorways, the size of chairs on airplanes and at sports stadiums,” Emanuel said. “So there’s a lot of hidden costs as well to the increasing girth of Americans.”

This is what you get when you say "Obama Administration" and "bioethics" in the same sentence.

Is this a trial balloon to the next eugenics push by the Administration?  Can we burn fat people at the stake to heat our homes?  How will that effect global warming?  It's a complex issue.  Or is it an excuse for Washington to save us from ourselves and outlaw the "biggie size" option?

So
the White House is making its last pushes for health care reform to be passed in Congress and a campaign against the so-called obesity epidemic has been ramped up in political circles. The media have played along,of course. First Lady Michelle Obama recently made an unusual appearance on the Fox News Channel about this issue.

So the government continues to make the trough at which it feeds both deeper and wider.  Its appetite is insatiable; its reach incessant.  Its eye full of mischief.

And it has the audacity to call us fat.
