It's a good thing that we've got the vestiges of a Republic.  Even moderate Republicans are looking like statesmen compared to the disinformation war being waged by the Obama administration.  Initially, the President was using his Chicago mafia heavy hand along with his willing lapdogs Pelosi and Reid (my apologies to lapdogs everywhere).  The leaders of the House and the Senate, respectively, showed their altruistic streaks by working for legislation that didn't even include Botox treatments.  But, hey, at least they were going to get unfettered, unlimited, taxpayer funded abortion.  Those two always find the silver lining.

Just when the Dems were rubbing their slimy little hands together in anticipation of the biggest socialist legislation in U.S. history, the seat held by Teddy Kennedy for half a century went to a no-friend-of-conservatives-anywhere Republican primarily because of his opposition to the President's disastrous health care bill.  When confronted by the evidence that though a majority of Americans were stupid enough to vote for Obama, they weren't buying his health care proposals, the Dems beat a hasty -albeit momentary - retreat.

Now we are being treated by a series of even heavier handed and more disingenuous tactics as evidenced by the touted "Health Care Summit."  You know when you get called out for lying by John McCain, you must have uttered some humdingers.  But that's exactly what happened.  In fact, McCain "practically dunked and posterized Obama by charging him with political corruption."  McCain also reminded the President of his campaign promises that included (8 times) to have public, televised discussions on what turned out to be clandestine legislation.  Obama sidestepped the issue and reminded us all that the election was over.  I always cry when someone says that.

Administration bad boy Rahm Emanuel, long known as a political enforcer, has made it clear that starting next week, the push to "Rahm through" the "big bill" (as the health care debacle is affectionately now called) is going to happen.  How I long for the days when "big bill" was simply a reference to President Bill Clinton.

Earlier in the week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid warned wives everywhere that they were at risk if they opposed his "modest" $15,000,000,000 jobs package.  I think it was really just a heads-up for Mrs. Reid since there is some hope that Reid will become unemployed in November. ( I know at my house, my wife promised me a bloody nose if I didn't get some work done around here!).  And if that's not enough the Dems are also threatening to use the "nuclear option" to get their way, which is the very thing they decried when George W. Bush was President.  And, yes, we miss you!

Getting their cue from White House, Speakerette of the House Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid promised that "Democrats plan to begin rhetorical, and perhaps legislative, steps toward the Democrats-only process early next week."  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid planned "to take the temperature of their caucuses."  My guess is that's a euphemism for getting the American taxpayer to bend over.   The Democratic strategist went on to point out that, “The point [of the summit] is to alter the political atmospherics, and it will take a day or two to sense if it succeeded.”

Which brings me to the disinformation campaign.  The Administration is sponsoring, promoting, encouraging, assisting - adjectives fail me - via a website to have individuals call generally Conservative and Christian radio talk shows to talk up the President's Health Care fraud.  Click the pic to be taken to the site.

The posting provides talking points designed to scare and manipulate the listener into signing on to the Administration's socialist juggernaut. 

For over a year, I've pointed out the similarities between this Saul Alinsky wannabe and the political machinations of other now discredited regimes:

Success is the important thing. Propaganda is not a matter for average minds, but rather a matter for practitioners. It is not supposed to be lovely or theoretically correct. I do not care if I give wonderful,aesthetically elegant speeches, or speak so that women cry. The point of a political speech is to persuade people of what we think right. I speak differently in the provinces than I do in Berlin, and when I speak in Bayreuth, I say different things than I say in the Pharus Hall. That is a matter of practice, not of theory. We do not want to be a movement of a few straw brains, but rather a movement that can conquer the broad masses. Propaganda should be popular, not intellectually pleasing. It is not the task of propaganda to discover intellectual truths.

This is not the first time a propaganda campaign has been waged within the shores of the Republic.  Indeed, it was from California (of all places) from whence the warning came.  What might have legitimately been mistaken for a Parent's Guide to UC-Berkeley, a piece entitled In Our Own Backyard; Resisting Nazi Propaganda in Southern California 1933-1945 describes a scenario that bears a chilling resemblance to the Obama Administration's propaganda machine designed to force health care down our throats:

"Propaganda is a weapon" Hitler declared, "as much as submarines,tanks and bombs." It served as the psychological weapon of Hitler's campaign to "divide and conquer" the world. Never before had the world been so overwhelmed with so much "information." Pamphlets, cartoons,booklets, motion pictures, radio shows, and lectures written and produced both in the United States and abroad bombarded the American Public with the alleged problem of the Jews, the glory of the Third Reich, and the moral decay of the world.

The techniques of name-calling, guilt by association, card-stacking, scapegoating and smear campaigning made it difficult to distinguish truth from fallacy.During this period, the documentary became popular because it seemed a reliable source of information. For an unsuspecting public, statistics and film could be and often were distorted in the "telling of the truth." To understand the terms un-American, "subversive," "fifth column," "fascist," "the left," and "the right" proved challenging for the American people in the 1930s and 1940s.

Fascist propagandists favored anti-Semitic disinformation for spreading fear and suspicion. Historian Henry Steele Commager observed, "The intolerance of the 30s and 40s had not even the dignity of intelligence, or accuracy or a moral purpose."

Substitute a few words (e.g., "anti-semitic" with "racist"; "Third Reich" with "Universal Health Care"; "Jews" with "right-wing militia groups") and voilà  you've got yourself a full-blown case of Obamacare.

And the package is totally bereft of "the dignity of intelligence, or accuracy or a moral purpose."
